Anglian Water Case Study

Following a decision to transfer from equity to bond financing by the Anglian Water PLC (AWG) a new ring-fenced service organisation AWS needed to be set up to satisfy bond holders.  Vizone were employed to assist in creating the new organisation serving over 6 million customers with a turnover of £750 million per annum.  AWS was created in 2002 as the regulated water and waste water company with 2,000 staff serving the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hartlepool, Humberside, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.  The new business had to be completely stand alone and ring-fenced from the group and had rigid bondholder requirements to meet.  It was imperative that the launch of the new company had no effect on provision of services to its 6 million customers.  The new business needed to be radically different to the previous organisation concentrating on utilising a "three ball model" of Asset Owner, Asset Manager and Asset Services to deliver maximum benefit to all stakeholders.

Vizone helped AWS by:

• Defining, scoping and delivering the three ball (asset owner, manager, operator) Asset Management vision.
• Delivering the structure, roles, governance and programme management requirements for the business change programme.
• Delivering "as is" and ‘future state’ enterprise wide business processes for the new AWS.
• Delivering the transformation plan for AWS IS and IT services to support the asset management vision.
• Defining the programme of work to deliver the IS Future State.
• Leading negotiations with Logica and CSC on the renegotiation of contracts to meet the future state.
