British Energy Case Study
British Energy is a multi-national nuclear power generation organisation that operates all of the UK’s nuclear power stations and employs over 5,200 staff. Vizone was employed directly by British Energy to define, design and rapidly implement new mission critical business improvement systems.
Having undergone rationalisation and re-organisation, British Energy required a new mission critical capital programme delivery process, organisation and systems to be defined and delivered rapidly, alongside a new IS strategy to be developed to help the company adapt to the increasing competition in the privatised electricity industry. With the requirement to define and deliver the information requirements for the re-listing and business improvement programme, the Vizone Programme Manager successfully achieved this by:
- Undertaking business process definition and documentation for all British Energy Asset Management and Capital Programme delivery areas.
- Reviewing the internal IT service and strategy to validate its capability to support the Asset Management & Capital Investment Programme.
- Defining the information and data sets for all processes.
- Delivering traditional and Rapid Application Development (RAD) systems for Capital Programme Management, Risk Management, and Asset Register and Work Management.
- Defined and aligned the new IS strategy and organisational requirements for the British Energy broader business change programme to meet their new 5 year objectives.
